What is the purpose of FACHRS and who can join?
Objects
To promote and communicate research in family & community history within a scholarly framework, with particular emphasis on the contribution of locally based and micro studies to the understanding of the wider picture (and vice versa). The Family and Community Historical Research Society (Society), will work toward attaining these aims by such means as providing a framework for discussion and support for the Society's members, publishing a journal & newsletter for the Society's members, promoting links between institutional and independent researchers, and encouraging activities and interaction at both a national and a regional level.
Membership
Membership of the Society shall be open to all those with an interest in the pursuit of family and community history in a scholarly framework and who have paid the due subscription. Networks of of the Society's members can be set up as branches of the Society on provision of information about their activities and membership, and will be able to receive such general assistance as from time to time determined by the Society's committee. Members of FACHRS also have access to the Members Community that offers additional benefits for members engaged in practical research. Apply to join.
