The Federation of Family History Societies 30th Anniversary
The year 2004 marked the 30th anniversary of the FFHS and to celebrate the occasion the FFHS sponsored a conference in Loughborough from the 26 - 31 August 2004. By invitation FACHRS provided four speakers covering a wide variety of topics.
2004 Conference was held on 15 May 2004.. at the Centre for English Local History, University of Leicester,
"The Family and Community Historical Research Society's Annual Conference and AGM took place on Saturday, 15th May 2004. Hosted by the Centre for Local History at Leicester University, the theme of this year's conference was Transport. Professor Colin Divall from the Institute of Railway Studies and Transport provided this year's "keynote" presentation, focusing on transport from 1900-1939. FACHRS members who contributed research to national projects that supported and enhanced academic work was showcased at the meeting. Dr Trevor Hill contributed a paper on his work on the change in transport from packhorse to railway. Mike Beech presented on his work with the Foxton Inclined Plane Trust and canal preservation. Cynthia Brown, from the East Midlands Oral History Archive, provided information about the sources available from the archive, with particular emphasis on Transport.

The 2002 Annual Conference & AGM took place at the Birmingham and Midland Institute on Saturday 13th April.The theme of the event was "By Schism Rent Asunder" a review of religious activity during the 19th century.
