The official opening of The Archive will take place at the annual Conference of the Society on 21

May 2005, this year being held in Aspley Guise, near Milton Keynes.

The Archive is housed in a redevelopment of outbuildings and stables originally part of a Georgian

manor house, The Holt, erected in 1786 by Francis Moore of Aspley Guise. The manor house is

now the Moore Place Hotel.

Freehold of the former courtyard, carriage store, outbuildings and stables of The Holt was recently

acquired by a development company, Ashbolt Ltd., a Milton Keynes' Property Managers Owners &

Estates business, who in turn lease a unit of the development to FACHRS for a 'peppercorn' rent.

The Archive will be home to the Society’s growing collection of material, including the results of

Society research projects, Society newsletters and Journals, and a range of other items.

The expectation is to host meetings, workshops and seminars for members at The Archive. It is also

hoped that members will use our growing collection of material for their own research. Future

committee meetings will also be held there.
